National Academy of legal studies and research conducts an entrance exam for admission to the BA, LLB and LLM courses in NALSAR University. Admissions to these courses are made strictly on merit, based on the test conducted together by the NLSIU – Bangalore NALSAR-Hyderabad, NLIU-Bhopal, NUJS-Kolkata, NLU-Jodhpur, HNLU-Raipur and GNLU-Ahmedabad.
BA, LLB (5 years integrated course)
PG Diploma courses like One Year postgraduate Diploma in Patent laws, One Year postgraduate Diploma in Media law, One Year Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Laws and One year Postgraduate Diploma in International Humanitarian Law
For BA, LLB:
Applicant should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination not less than 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved categories).
Those who are appearing for class 12th exams in 2011 are also eligible to apply.
Applicant should be under 20 years of age (22 years for reserved categories) before 1st July, 2011.
For LLM :
Applicant should have completed LLB/BA LLB degree not less than 55% aggregate marks (50% for reserved categories). Those who are in final year can also apply.
Candidate seeking admission to the M.Phil Degree Programme shall have an LLM degree either from the LL.M. Degree either from NALSAR or from any other recognized University ‘B+' grade or an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent.
For PhD (Doctor of Philosophy):
Candidate must have a Master of Laws degree from any recognized University with a minimum of 50% or an M.Phil in Law from a recognized University.
Students seeking admission to PG Diploma in Patents Law, Cyber Laws or Media Law should have passed Bachelor's degree examination from any recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
Candidates seeking admission for PG Diploma in International Humanitarian Laws should have passed a bachelor's degree examination from a recognized university or equivalent and should have minimum two years of experience.
Structure and Pattern of entrance exam:
Duration for this test is one and half hour (90 minutes).
All questions will be objective type
The test paper carries a total of 200 marks.
Test paper will cover the questions on General Knowledge, General English, Essay, Reasoning and legal aptitude.
B.A LLB Entrance :
1. English - 40 marks
2. General Knowledge - 50 marks
3. Mathematics - 20 marks
4. Legal Aptitude - 40 marks
5. Logical Reasoning - 50 marks
LLM Entrance :
The entrance test for L.L.M. is held along with the entrance test for the B.A., L.L.B. (Hons.) The paper will consist of four sections, each carrying 50 marks.
- Competency in English Language.
- writing short-notes on various topics having a bearing upon law
- Writing a short essay on one of the topics in Indian Constitutional Law.
- writing a short essay on one of the topics in Jurisprudence.
