Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) is an entrance exam conducted for admission to all Government, Private, Aided & Unaided Medical universities/colleges in Maharashtra for Undergraduate Medical Courses.
The merit list of the above said examination will be utilized for admission in
(i) Govt/Municipal corporation/govt aided colleges of Health sciences degree courses.
(ii) Govt/govt. aided/university managed colleges/university departments/autonomous colleges including ICT, Mumbai and unaided private colleges (those colleges who have given consent to participate in MHT-CET) of pharmacy degree courses.
(iii) BVSc and AH degree course
For selection process there will be separate competent authorities. For selection to Health science degree courses, the director, medical education and research (DMER), Mumbai is the competent authority.
- Eligibility for Health science courses of candidates who have passed SSC (10th std) and/or HSC (12th std) or equivalent examination
- HSC/SSC, Maharashtra state, eligible for Health science courses
- HSC Maharashtra but SSC out side Maharashtra, domicile certificate required, eligible for Health Science courses.
Eligibility for Admission to Health Science Degree Courses:
The candidate must be an Indian Citizen. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Non Resident Indian (NRI)/overseas citizen of India (OCI) are not eligible.
The candidate must be born on or before 31st December 1993 to be eligible to appear for MHT CET 2011. However, for admission to Ayurveda and Unani courses, candidate must be born on or before 1st October 1993.
The Birth certificate indicating name of the candidate, Secondary School Certificate i.e. SSC or equivalent examination certificate or School Leaving Certificate endorsing the date of birth will constitute a valid proof.
The candidate must be medically fit and must submit a certificate of medical fitness at the time of Preference form filling as per perform.
The candidate must have successfully cleared the SSC or equivalent examination from an Institution situated in the state of Maharashtra.
The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination i.e. Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC / 12th Standard) or equivalent examination, from an Institution situated in the State of Maharashtra with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) at the time of admission.
For MBBS: A candidate belonging to Open Category must have obtained not less than 50% (i.e. 150 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination.
A candidate belonging to constitutional reservation backward class must have obtained not less than 40% (i.e. 120 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination.
For BDS: A candidate belonging to open category must have obtained not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together at HSC (or equivalent) examination.
A candidate belonging to constitutional reservation must have obtained not less than 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together at HSC(or equivalent) Exam.
Availability of Application Forms:
There will be a common form for Engineering, Health Science and Pharmacy Courses. Application forms along with brochures for MHT-CET will be available at the schools/junior colleges of students where they have studied in Maharashtra. Candidates have to submit the completely filled application forms in their schools before the last date.
Important Dates (Tentative):
• Availability of CET Forms: 2nd-4th week of March, 2011
• Last Date for submission of CET forms: 4th week of March, 2011
• Date of CET: 1st week of May, 2011
• Declaration of Results: Mid June, 2011
